APLEC
Australasian Professional Legal Education Community Ltd 668 460 759 (APLEC Ltd) is an Australian public company, limited by guarantee. It is a not for profit organisation whose membership is made up of the providers of Practical Legal Training (PLT) programs across Australasia. It is registered as a charity with the ACNC (Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission).
APLEC Ltd’s objectives include
- The furtherance of professional legal education in Australasia and elsewhere
- The encouragement and organisation of publications concerning professional legal education
- The promotion of active co-operation of professional legal training (PLT) providers with one another, with legal training courses elsewhere and with law schools, tertiary institutions and professional bodies in Australasia and elsewhere
- Promote co-operation with professional bodies and other bodies in the work of law reform
- Promote and encourage the work of those engaged in professional legal education
APLEC Ltd’s Board members are volunteers, drawn from various PLT providers who are members of the organisation.
APLEC board members work across Woiwurrung, Boonwurrung, Eora, Yuggera and Turrbal, and Whadjuk country. We acknowledge and pay our respects to Aboriginal elders and community of the 250 nations of this continent. We also acknowledge and pay our respects to the indigenous peoples of The Torres Strait, Papua New Guinea, Aotearoa, and the South Pacific where we operate. We further seek to uphold the human rights of all indigenous peoples, women, non-binary, LGBTQIA+, and disabled people.
